THE SOUND OF YOUR HEART…
Research objective.
Study the effect of SCENAR-therapy on cardio-vascular system in patients.
Research methods.
We examined 40 patients with various diseases that addressed to our treatment facility from November 2010 till March 2011. The group of patients included 13 men, 23 women and 4 children.
Patients’ age:
under 30 – 3 patients;
31-60 – 23 patients;
above 60 – 10 patients.
Children were 4-15 years old.
All the patients had 12-lead ECG before and just after SCENAR sessions. SCENAR stimulation was administered in the subjectively dosed mode at the basic frequency of 90 Hz for 20-40 minutes following the individual treatment technique in each particular case. Zones of active complaint were the main for stimulation, along with that we stimulated general zones ‘3 pathways, 6 points’ and collar zone. The area of heart was left unstimulated.
Comparing the ECGs before SCENAR and after, we detected evident changes in three parameters that characterise cardiovascular performance:
a. heart rate (evaluated by changes in R-R interval on ECG);
b. myocardial contractility of left ventricle (evaluated by R-wave amplitude changes in QRS complex mainly in the V4 – V6 left chest leads);
c. state of myocardial trophics (evaluated by changes in terminal part of ventricular complex ST-T mainly in left chest leads, but as ST segment was originally and during subsequent recordings isoelectric, myocardial repolarization was evaluated only by T-wave amplitude changes mainly in left chest leads).
Research results.
1. 33 patients manifested changed heart rate (83%), at this in most 29 of them HR decreased by 5 (28%), in 4 patients HR increased by 4 (26%) and in 7 patients HR remained unchanged (17%).
2. 3 patients (7%) manifested isolated increase of myocardial contractility of left ventricle (R-wave amplitude increase in left chest leads).
3. 9 patients (23%) manifested isolated increase of trophic processes in miocardium (T-wave amplitude increase in left chest leads).
Combined improvement of myocardial contractility and trophic processes was registered in 15 patients (37%). 13 patients (33%) manifested no changes in R- and T-wave amplitudes. No patients manifested decrease of myocardial contractility or trophic state.
Having analysed the changes in the cardiac functionality, we made the following conclusions: the greatest effect SCENAR has on autonomic regulation of the heart rate, i.e. decreased influence of the sympathetic outflow and increased influence of trophic parasympathetic outflow of autonomic nervous system. In most cases that caused heart rate fall that resulted in longer diastole, more time to fill coronary arteries, and improved myocardial trophics.
As the myocardial compliance becomes longer, the myocardial contractility becomes greater according to the Frank–Starling law .
No significant dependence of changes in the ECG parameters on SCENAR treatment zone, as well as on patients’ gender and age, were identified.
Our research proves that in most cases SCENAR-therapy has positive effect on cardiac functionality.
